I. Competition Regulations
 
1. Check-in

Runners will check-in and assemble at different time and locations according to the different disciplines. The time and locations are as follows:
Discipline Check-in / Assemble Time Location
100KM Check-in 4:30am - 5:00am Juyongguan Great Wall (Start)
50KM Check-in 8:00am - 8:50am Ming Tombs Reservoir Platform
10KM Assemble 9:30am - 10:20am Ming Tombs Reservoir Platform
 
2. Cut-off time and location

1. In order to ensure a safe and fair race for all runners, traffic control will be in place at allotted race time. Traffic control will no longer be in effect and aid/water stations will be removed after each cut-off time at each aid station;

2. The organizing committee will provide broom bus service during the race.
The cut-off time for each discipline and broom bus schedule will be published on the event official website at www.thenorthface100.com.cn one month prior to the event day;

3. Runners who can’t make the cut-off time should stop running immediately, exit the main road and take the broom bus back to the finish area;

4. Runners who do not meet the cut-off time and miss the “broom buses” should find a closed aid station, and the referee at the aid station will arrange for their transport back to the finish area.
 
3. Runners’ packet

Runners’ packets will be distributed prior to the event date, which includes:
1. All successful registrants will receive a bag, a guidebook, number bib, a running T-shirt and a cap;
2. All 100KM and 50KM participants will also receive one timing chip.
 
4. Groups’ distribution

The race will have two groups by gender and age for each discipline.
1. All runners will be allotted by Men and Women, they are:
  1) 100KM Men & 100KM Women
  2) 50KM Men & 50KM Women
  3) 10KM Men & 10KM Women

2. Both 100KM and 50KM will be allotted into three groups by age
  1) Under 30 years old (Born on or after January 1, 1980)
  2) Between 31 to 45 years old (Born on or between January 1, 1965 and December 31, 1979)
  3) Above 46 years old (Born on or before December 31, 1964)
 
5. Timing services

1. The Organizing Committee will provide timing chips for runners of 100KM and 50KM. Chips will be distributed with the race packets;

2. The Organizing Committee will provide individual results for 100KM and 50KM runners:
  1) The finish time;
  2) Ranking in Men or Women group;
  3) Ranking in each age group.
 
6. Aid stations

The Organizing Committee will set up aid stations and/ or water stations along the course to provide food, water, energy beverages and medical services to runners. The exact locations will be published on the official website at www.thenorthface100.com.cn one month prior to the event day.
 
7. Gear requirements and recommendation

1. All runners should wear proper sports clothes and running shoes. Runners without running shoes will be disqualified;

2. In order to ensure safety for runners, each 100km runner shall bring a headlamp and store it at the start. The Organizing Committee will collect the headlamps and transport them to the Wangbaochuan aid station. Runners who can’t reach Wangbaochuan aid station before 5:00pm must wear their headlamp to finish the rest of the race; otherwise the runner will be disqualified.

3. Each runner will have items that are specific to their own needs at the aid station. The following list is a suggested for what may benefit you along the way:
  1) Extra Race Clothing: shirts, shorts, socks, shoes, rain gear, gloves, hat, etc;
  2) Preferred Food Items: Energy bars, gels, sandwiches, snacks, etc;
  3) Preferred Drink Items: Additional powders, drinks;
  4) First Aid: Antacids, ibuprofen/asprin, lip balm, blister protection, analgesics, towels, Visine, antibiotic ointment, bandages, etc.
 
8. Storage services

1. Runners should not store any valuable items in the race bag (such as cell phones, ID, cash, PDAs and MP3 players, etc.). Runners should pick up their race bag before 8:00pm on race day.

2. If after 9:00pm, runners should go to Changing Sports Bureau the next day to pick up the bag. After 7 days, all unclaimed bags will be discarded;

3. Two to three aid stations will provide storage services, where runners can change their clothes. Runners will need to deliver their bags to the storage bus before 5:00am on the event day, and mark their bib number on their bag or bags. The exact storage stations will be published on event official website at www.thenorthface.com.cn/tnf100 one month prior to the event day.

4. 50KM and 10KM runners may store additional bags with post-race clothing at the Finish of Ming Tombs Reservoir Platform.
 
9. Disqualification

The entire race route including the start and finish areas will be monitored closely by the Organizing Committee. Runners caught breaching competition rules as noted below will be disqualified immediately and will not receive race results:
1. Registering false personal information, including competition results and/ or presenting false health certificates;
2. Revising or covering the number bibs;
3. Allowing anybody else to run any part of the race on behalf of registrant;
4. Intentionally starting with an earlier group or cutting in front of an assigned start group;
5. False starting;
6. Exceeding the time limit allotted for the race and refusing to leave the course;
7. Not completing the full race course or cutting the course;
8. Attempting to collect more than one participant souvenir bag by returning to the staging area;
9. Not completing the intended race discipline, yet collecting the completion prize;
10. Refusing to adhere to the competition rules and guidelines
